SaddleBrooke HOA 2 fitness and wellness – looking back over 2015

Gwen Lewis

Dear SaddleBrooke Residents:

This has been an exciting and busy year. As the Director of Fitness and Wellness for SBHOA 2, my goal has been to bring the very best to the Fitness and Wellness Department, implementing special programs for the SaddleBrooke Community. I have met so many wonderful people in this community and your activities and interests are impressive. I have listened to your needs as well as ideas and have set out to better meet those goals and objectives for both individuals and groups. Here is a synopsis of the past year.

The Fitness and Wellness Department:

Went from teaching 17 fitness classes to 35 Land and Aqua based fitness classes with a wide variety of classes for all levels of fitness. There is something for everyone.

We implemented In-Home Personal Training, Small Group Training as well as Aqua Personal Training.

We established a relationship with Oro Valley Hospital and offer free monthly lectures by local physicians on various health topics that are important to the community.

We are starting with Oro Valley Hospital a continuation from Physical Therapy Program. Many have come to our team and do not know the next step after therapy. Our Certified Personal Trainers have been able to safely help and effectively progress their exercise routine to the next level.

Sports Clinics are offered to clubs and groups who would like to improve their game, learn how to keep from injury and how to properly prepare for their sport. These can be done in large groups, small group personal training or one on one training.

There is a fitness portion on the DVD playing in the DesertView Lobby. Each month we submit health articles to SaddleBag Notes, SaddleBrooke Progress and For the Record Publications. Our new Wellness Wednesday Weekly email provides fitness information, updates in the department and special events.

Every second Thursday Chair Massage is now offered at DesertView with a licensed therapist from 8:00 a.m. to noon. You may sign up for this ahead of time; 10 minutes is just $5!

CPR will be offered to the residents and will begin January of 2016.

New fitness equipment was brought into DesertView Fitness Facility. We hope you are all trying the new Keiser Functional Trainers. If you haven’t yet, please let our staff know so we can help you.

The Fitness Fair will be held on January 30 from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m.

Our annual Wellness Symposium will be February 13, 2016; How to Heal the Body from the Inside Out. Save the date! Some exciting information on this event to come soon.

It has been exciting to see the Fitness and Wellness Department enhance and grow throughout the year. If you have any questions on our programs, or you need help with your fitness/wellness needs and goals, please contact our staff at 818-1172 or 818-1300.
