Partners Western Dances and New Classes!

Our dancers at the November club dance with Wild Ride

Jane Gromelski

Dancing is the only sport that lets you hold your partner in your arms! It’s good for you mentally and physically. It’s exercise that is fun!

We will offer Arizona 2-Step classes starting on Thursday, Jan. 4, 2024, in the Rincon Room, the former MountainView Golf Shop. Arizona 2-Step 101 will start at 6 p.m. This will be a five-week series of classes. The Arizona 2-Step is a universal dance to learn. We use it to dance to so many country-western songs. It’s also called the Rhythm 2-Step. The steps are forward, 2, 3, tap, back, tap.

We go slow and repeat. We make classes fun, because dancing is fun, and you learn more easily in a fun atmosphere. At 7 p.m. we will offer Arizona 2-Step 201, an intermediate class, with a refresher, and then more intricate steps. We ask for a donation of $10 per student for the series.

On Thursdays at 5 p.m., starting Jan. 4, 2024, we will offer East Coast Swing classes. I call this Rock ‘n’ Roll. Remember Dick Clark’s American Bandstand? There are some songs that are just perfect for swing! This is Stan’s favorite dance. We have been asked to teach this, and we are glad to include it in our classes! Join us for a refresher or some new steps.

We will also offer Partner Pattern 101 on Mondays in the Rincon Room, where the MountainView Golf Shop was previously, starting on Monday, Jan. 8, 2024, at 6 p.m. Partner Pattern dances are similar to line dancing, except you do the steps with your partner in the sweetheart position. They are a series of steps that repeat. We start with the simple 10-step and then do different pattern dances like the sway, which is 16 steps, then repeat. These are a fun alternative to the 2-step dances. At 7 p.m. we will offer Partner Pattern 201. These are more intricate dance steps. We ask for a donation of $2 per student per class.

Stan and I have been teaching dance here in SaddleBrooke for 18 years. We have other couples who assist in teaching under our auspices. We love sharing the joy we have had dancing with our SaddleBrooke neighbors.

The Partners Western Dance Club has dances scheduled monthly. We have dances with Wild Ride playing for us in the MountainView Ballroom on Dec. 13, 2023; Jan. 26, 2024; and Feb. 21, 2024. Several of these will be dinner dances. We have a cash bar with free candy (to keep our energy up). Wild Ride is the best band in Tucson. Their music is very danceable, and we have a great group of dancers, so we have a ground-pounding, boot-stomping good time!

In addition, we have free DJ dances. The next one is on Dec. 28 in the Vermilion Room in the SaddleBrooke clubhouse. It will start at 6 p.m.

Don’t miss out on the fun! Grab your partner and your neighbors, stop sitting on the sidelines, and get up and dance!
