I have been a practicing chiropractor for over 40 years, and I still find it absolutely amazing how effective spinal adjustments can be for the relief of back and neck pain. Every day I hear patients say, “I wish I would have come in a long time ago. I can’t believe how much better I’m doing in such a short time.”
While other treatment options may provide some relief in the treatment of back pain, chiropractic adjustments are the go-to option for millions of patients. Chiropractors specialize in the bio-mechanics and structure of the spine. Spinal adjustments are not only cost effective, they work. Here are the five reasons for you to consider the inclusion of a chiropractor on your health care team.
1. Spinal adjustments provide significant pain relief.
Chiropractors can determine your spinal problem by simple orthopedic, neurologic and postural tests. X-ray studies also provide your chiropractor with the ability to accurately diagnose the structural problem that is causing your back pain. After your chiropractor determines the cause of the spinal problem, he/she will perform spinal adjustments and prescribe lifestyle changes that can provide remarkable relief.
2. Spinal adjustments increase mobility of the vertebral segments.
Along with the aging process, the typical senior has increased spinal osteoarthritis and disc degeneration. Aging makes our spine more vulnerable to injury because we don’t have as much flexibility. Spinal adjustments will restore mobility to the areas of the spine that are stiff and sore.
3. Adjustments will help your body function at its full potential.
It’s a simple fact that the nervous system controls and co-ordinates all body functions. If spinal nerves are being pinched or irritated your body is not going to function properly. Many patients have not only experienced decreased back pain, they have also experienced excellent results with headaches, asthma, high blood pressure, allergies, stomach problems and weakness of the extremities.
4. Chiropractic may help with stress reduction and your overall feeling of well-being.
There is probably nothing more debilitating than chronic pain. Chiropractors are the only doctors that specialize in the treatment of back and body pain without the use of harmful drugs, shots and surgery. Today’s chiropractors can also treat extremity (shoulder, elbow, hand, knee and hip pain) problems with gentle mobilization, stretches and exercises.
5. Chiropractic works for both chronic pain and new injuries.
It really doesn’t matter how or when the pain started. The most important thing for you to consider is getting started with chiropractic care. Don’t ignore the pain and don’t cover up the pain with dangerous and addicting medications. The only thing you have to lose is the pain that you are experiencing.
My advice: Put a great chiropractor on your health team. Chiropractic is the most effective, the most conservative and the very best method to improve your overall health.
