Women On Our Own (WOOO) of SaddleBrooke celebrated the holidays on our third Wednesday Dine Around at one of our favorite dining spots, Wild Garlic Restaurant in Tucson. We enjoyed a large variety of menu options and marveled as the Wild Garlic wait staff showcased their talents by describing the many entrees available on and off the menu.
Dining opportunities with WOOO are numerous. In addition to the monthly Dine Around, members also enjoy monthly Ethnic Dining opportunities and second Saturday dining, which takes in the many venues of SaddleBrooke, SaddleBrooke Ranch, Catalina, and Oracle. Once a month a member of WOOO volunteers to host a potluck at her home and chooses a theme that reflects the food to bring. These events are always well attended, with foods that reflect favorite salads, a memory of our childhood, county fair foods, and even breakfast for supper theme(s). Sharing why we chose to bring a specific food provides great conversation and laughter as members learn about each other and our histories. Carpooling is always available to places near and far.
Beyond dining choices, WOOO members enjoy activities such as book club, movies, wine tastings, bridge, game night featuring trivia and Mexican Train, Progressive Hand and Foot, Mah Jongg, and Pickleball. WOOO Walkers is a new activity that allows members to enjoy the natural beauty of our great Sonoran Desert. Day trip travels began in the new year, as well as members organizing excursions that take us to parts known and unknown. With more than 230 members, if one can dream it, there are always others who will help us live it!
Women On Our Own welcomes single women of SaddleBrooke who are not in a committed relationship. We are also welcoming to women who find themselves as longterm caregivers to a partner or a spouse.
