Have you become a member of WOOO yet? Are you a single woman, not in a relationship? Are you looking for other women with whom to share your interests? Within WOOO there are wonderful women to meet as well as several clubs, a sampling of which include a travel club, book club, movie discussions, potluck dinners and game groups.

The Travel Club committee has designed four trips for this year, including visiting Antelope Canyon, Columbia River Gorge, Copper Canyon and Rocky Mountaineer.

Our Book Club meets on the fourth Friday of the month at 9:00 a.m. at the MountainView Bistro for breakfast followed by discussion of a member’s choice of a book. In January we read Me and You by Jojo Moyes, led by Brenda McBride. On Friday, February 26 we discussed Man’s Search for Meaning by Viktor Frankl, led by Cass McGovern.

We’ve developed a new Movie Club, wherein a popular movie will be selected and our membership will be emailed about the title, date, time and theater. The idea is to see the selection and then join in a discussion afterward at a restaurant. One movie we will definitely see is Me and You, due out in June, based on our January book club selection.

Dining opportunities exist to suit everyone’s tastes: dine-arounds, where we visit various restaurant’s cuisines as well as Potlucks at members’ homes. On Saturday, January 30 WOOO members met at Lynn Crookes for an appetizer potluck get together. Members volunteer to have the evening at their home and decide what kind of food other women will bring to share.

Some of the games which WOOO members have played in homes include Hand and Foot, Canasta, Bridge and Mahjong. We held a Games Night in the Mesquite Grille on February 22 with one group playing Mexican Train—-lots of fun! Games Night is set up as a way for our members to join and form new player groups such as Scrabble, Trivia and Rumikub.

In addition WOOO is now a part of Tucson’s Meetup, with its own site, another opportunity for joining in group activities such as dining, movies, theatre and concerts. You may look on the site and see what’s offered or present something you would like to go to and see if others would too.

If you are not a member, and would like to join, please call Linda Depew at 520-505-8204. We hope you’ll join us for adventures, reading, games and more!
