It’s never too late to tell a good story. Also known as “Bring a Friend,”this title isn’t a misspelling, but an intentional play on the holiday Cinco-de-Mayo May 5. The event chairperson, Ruth Solin, chose this clever title for the team game where only the putts count to determine the winners. All players were composed of MPLN members, friends, and family.
The scramble, playing the best ball, continues through the fairway until the player putts their own ball for the score. The strategy was to chip or putt on the fringe of the green where it was possible to score one or two putts.
There was a sombrero placed on par 3, MV #4 green. If a player’s tee shot lands and stays in the sombrero, her total number of putts will be “0”.
The ballroom at MountainView was decorated with multiple sombreros, and a colorful backdrop was used to take pictures.
Everyone enjoyed a lunch delivered with efficiency by the MountainView banquet staff.
The event paid out four winning places.
The membership again acknowledged the winners of President’s Cup Barb Wallace, and Club Championship Maria Miller.
Team winners were:
1st Barbara Bloch, Betty Weller, Caroline Whitt, and Ginny Shockey
2nd: Ruth Sollin, Marsha Roubidoux, Marla Butcher, and Pat Roddy
3rd: Eileen Snearly, Adele Smith, Jackie Webster, and Diann Klousiadis
4th: Denise Gilliat-Norgard, Kay Tomaszek, Charlene Leach, and used a blind score.
Closest to the hole winners on MV #4 were: MPLN member Caroline Whitt and Guest Pat Stefani.
MPLNiners have always enjoyed the event where they play a fun game with friends, family, and members.
Thank you to the committee for planning a fun filled golf day and the MountainView banquet staff for lunch.
