Santa Claus Came to Town!

Ruth Sollin

‘Twas the night before Christmas—or maybe three weeks early! The MountainView Lady Putters were decked out in their festive holiday attire, celebrating the holiday season and sharing the Christmas vibe. The holiday luncheon on Dec. 9 rocked the house, with 118 in attendance.

Al Weigel, as “Pa,” from the Community Circle Players, read that timeless tale of St. Nick. Meanwhile, “Ma” (Liz Houser) hung the stockings. The Catalina Chorale, with Janie Grinstead as our piano maestro, sang some old favorites. Santa’s reindeer joined the party on stage as if by magic when queued up by the “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” tune.

The event continued on with the sharing of numerous presents and gift cards, which were handed out by our guest elves Noel, Tinsel, Sugar Spice and Everything Nice, Sparkle, Joy, Cookie, and Sprinkles.

A “peek a boo” photo booth and a cotton ball toss game were there to spice up the event. Of course, our very special guest, Santa Claus, made his appearance (played by special Putter Marilyn Ginther).

The meal of honey mustard-glazed salmon, rosemary-garlic chicken, and stuffed portabella mushroom was a hit! Of course, there were specialty cocktails to be enjoyed to round things out.

Each attendee brought a stuffed animal (lions and tigers and bears, oh my!), generous donations presented to our guest speakers, Deputy Chief Jeremy Hilderbrand and Lydia Camarillo of the Golder Ranch Fire Department. The stuffed toys will be given to children, providing comfort during future unfortunate events that may occur.

Merry Christmas to all MountainView Putters, and to all, a good night!
