Will You Love Me?
Romayne Trudo
My story is all too familiar. I am a handsome, two-year-old male kitty who was abandoned in the desert. I wandered around the SaddleBrooke Preserve for weeks. Kind residents provided me with food and water, but I was not trusting enough to let them catch me. The desert is a dangerous place for a kitty, so the residents called SaddleBrooke Pet Rescue Network (SBPRN) for help.
Volunteers immediately set up a Havahart® trap filled with enticing tuna treats. I was very hungry, so it didn’t take me long to seek out the food in the trap. Once safely secured in the trap, Lisa, an SBPRN volunteer, went to work to scan me for a microchip, but I knew they wouldn’t find one. She then began searching for a temporary foster home to care for me while my owner(s) could be found. At this time, there are not a lot of kitty fosters available, so I was very relieved when Cynthia and Don volunteered to help me. They are wonderful and make me feel safe and cared for. Although I have been posted on Nextdoor and several other websites, no one has come forward to claim me.
While waiting, SBPRN has arranged for me to be neutered, vaccinated, and tested. Unfortunately, I tested positive for feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV), a common infectious disease that attacks a cat’s immune system. Otherwise, I am healthy and expected to live a normal lifespan with regular veterinary care. FIV can be contagious, so when I am adopted, I need to be someone’s only kitty or live with other kitties that are FIV positive.
Now the good stuff: I am handsome, affectionate on my terms, and playful. At first, I am timid and cautious. Who wouldn’t be after surviving alone in the desert? But once I warm up to my surroundings, I would enjoy being close to you and seek out love and attention. Would you please consider a trial adoption? I promise, you won’t regret it.
Please call Romayne at 520-834-5718 for more information. She will be waiting by the phone. For more information about SBPRN, see their website at sbpetrescue.org.
Happy Daddy, Happy Doggie Day!
Lisa John
On Saturday night, Nov. 2, SaddleBrooke Pet Rescue Network received a call from Steve and Linda Martin. They had been driving home down Lago Del Oro when they saw a dog running straight at them. They pulled over and opened the door, and the dog jumped right in! They took him home and fostered him for three days while SaddleBrooke Pet Rescue Network (SBPRN) tried to find either his owners or a long-term foster. After three days, he was brought to Ann Villar, a foster member of SBPRN. She promptly named him Brisket! Although Brisket was enjoying his time with Ann and her rescue dog Danny, he was definitely missing Linda and Steve. It turns out that they were missing him as well! They contacted SBPRN to ask if they could give Brisket a forever home when he went up for adoption. Brisket went back to Steve and Linda’s house, and a joyous reunion ensued! Brisket officially became a member of the Martin family on Nov. 10.

Your Support Is Appreciated
Marcy Vernon
SaddleBrooke Pet Rescue Network (SBPRN) would like to thank each and every one of you for your continued support. The Jim Click Millions for Tucson Raffle was a huge success. The tickets sold by SBPRN volunteers brought in almost $7,000. The funds will be immediately distributed to the rescue groups and shelters we support to help pay down veterinary bills and to purchase equipment and food for homeless cats and dogs in our area.
Several board members attended the Dec. 12 drawing at Reid Park Zoo. Although no one in SaddleBrooke was a winner of the jeep, two first-class round-trip tickets, or the $5,000 cash, the real winners are the homeless critters that will be warm, well cared for, and well fed this winter.
We will be participating in the 2025 Jim Click Millions for Tucson raffle, and we hope you will consider supporting us again. This will give you the opportunity to once again dream about which incredible prize you might win in 2025.
