The SaddleBrooke Democratic Club held its monthly meeting on March 8. Our guest speaker at the meeting was Political Director for the Arizona Democratic Party Barbara Lubin. Barbara provided us with information about the latest controversial bills being proposed by the Arizona Legislature along with guidance as to who to contact in Phoenix to make our voices known regarding this pending legislation. In addition she communicated the latest information on the new 2016 plan of the Arizona Democratic Party to boost voter registration and Get Out the Vote (GOTV) activities. With an aggressive goal of registering over 210,000 new voters the State Party is in the process of hiring significant infrastructure for the first time to support this effort. Though an ambitious plan, the ADP is working diligently to motivate and enlist volunteers throughout the state of Arizona to supplement their staff in making this program a success.

Next month’s meeting, on April 12, will be dedicated to the discussion of the merits of Prop 123. We have two guest speakers who will be addressing the merits of the proposal.

Supporting the proponents of Prop 123 will be President of the Arizona Educational Association Andrew Morrill. Representing the opposing view will be Andrew Gardner, a Tucson native and organizer of the Noprop123.com effort to defeat this proposition. Giving equal time to both sides of the issue, we can look forward to a lively discussion.

Each regular monthly meeting of the SaddleBrooke Democratic Club is held on the second Tuesday of the month at 3:30 p.m. in the HOA 1 Activity Center, 64518 East Galveston Lane, SaddleBrooke, Arizona 85739.
