SaddleBrooke Activity Fair: Photography Club

Vicki Cunningham

Do we have fun in SaddleBrooke or what? On Jan. 19 a great number of SaddleBrooke members decided to learn what really goes on in those off-hours between golf and pickleball. Many wanted to know what our Photography Club does and when. There were several officers and knowledgeable photographers who were at our booth willing to share their experiences and thoughts with those who wanted to know “how to.”

Those SaddleBrookers who are relatively new or were looking for ways they could have fun doing what club members do, or doing something entirely new, were there. It was quite a gathering!

For those who are looking forward to their first cruise and traveling to Europe, there were many questions about taking photos with their new iPhones. “Where could they buy lenses for close-ups?” for example. SaddleBrooke Photography Club will be holding classes in the future. Stay tuned! For those who just want to improve their ability to use their camera lenses or learn how to use that camera that they own (kept safely in their closet), beginner photography classes are happening in February at 9 a.m. The cell phone class was on the first Friday of the month at 10:30 a.m., with other classes and sessions in person and on Zoom throughout the month. You will end up with information that can answer many questions you might have.

From President Mark Guinn

We had a great response from the SaddleBrooke residents at the Activity Fair. More than three dozen people showed interest in joining the club and furthering their education with taking photos. The fair is a wonderful recruiting tool. Even more took our beautiful information cards with them. The card included our new website, where meetings will be held, and the days, dates, and times that we meet.

There are chances for members to go on field trips. February brings opportunities for more photography, with a field trip planned for the Barrio neighborhood in downtown Tucson on Feb. 18. Our general meeting on Saturday, Feb. 10, featured the “Best of the Year” images from the members. Classes, special interest groups, and tutorials will continue each week. A swap meet to buy, sell, or trade not-needed photo equipment is scheduled for the March 1 meeting. More details on all these activities and more can be found on our website photosb.org. Why not stop by and see what we can help you with, whether you are a beginner or a little more advanced in your expertise of the art of photography.

The members of the club are helpful and kind. You will be welcomed with smiling faces and helping hands. Don’t be shy! You can’t be embarrassed. We are all learning from each other!

Weekly studio meetings are held every Friday from 9 to 11:30 a.m. in the Topaz Room at SaddleBrooke TWO. Monthly general meetings are held on the second Saturday of the month from 9 to 11 a.m.
