Line Dance Disco

Picture this: On the evening of March 12 everything was normal outside the DesertView Theater. But that night, the doorway into the theater became a time portal, because, suddenly, you were transported back to the 1970s! No, not really. It was just the SaddleBrooke Variety Show, “A ‘70s Shindig!” There was music, singing, dancing, and comedy, all with that 1970s vibe. It was “far out, man.”

For the first time ever, members of the SaddleBrooke Line Dance Club were performing in the show! Nine dancers, ably led by Dorothy Wood and Jaci McGeorge, looked adorable in their tie-dye, paisley, and wildly printed outfits, complete with headbands and boots! The group first showed off their talents in Act I, performing a line dance called Danger Twins. Although this dance was choreographed in 2022, it worked well with the 1975 song “Boogie Shoes” from K.C. and the Sunshine Band. Our dancers returned in Act II to dance to “Like a Dynamite,” which was a line dance choreographed in 2023. This time the music was “Stayin’ Alive” by the Bee Gees. And, of course, we all know that this song came from the 1977 smash hit movie Saturday Night Fever.

Several other dance clubs were represented, including Coyote Country Cloggers, SaddleBrooke Ballroom Dance Club, and the Nani Loa Kupuna Hula Halau. Each and every one of these groups also performed to songs from the 1970s and did a wonderful job. Congratulations to all!

It was a great evening that was positively “out of sight!” The Variety Show is only done every other year, so we will need to be patient and wait until 2027 to see what fun and delightful things will once again be coming our way.
