We Did It! SBSC Dominates at the Arizona State Championship!

Julie Adamen

The SaddleBrooke Swim Club (SBSC) made a splash at the Arizona State Championship Swim Meet held April 15–16 at the Dady Aquatic Center in Paradise Valley (Phoenix). Our incredible team racked up a jaw-dropping 1,845 points, finishing a staggering 700+ points ahead of the second-place Phoenix Swim Club!

With 38 powerhouse swimmers representing SBSC, our team gave it their all, leaving everything in the pool. A huge shout-out to our top point-getters Rome Yount, Doug Springer, Arlyn Melcher, and Stan Strebig who were absolutely on fire throughout the meet!

And let’s hear it for our phenomenal women’s team! SBSC dominated event after event, with Lyn Moreno clinching gold in the 75-79 50-yard breaststroke, Julie Adamen powering through to win the 65-69 50- and 100-yard breaststroke, Allison Lehman taking the top spot in the 65-69 200-yard backstroke, and Shawn Cryderman sprinting to victory in the 70-74 100-yard freestyle. Our legendary Dream Team of Allison Lehman, Noelle Minck, Molly Collins, and Julie Adamen once again proved unstoppable, capturing gold in the 200-yard medley relay. Maybe another All-American win? Time will tell!

Adding to the fun, the team kicked off the adventure by renting a bus for the trip to Phoenix, making the journey just as exciting as the competition. The camaraderie, laughter, and team spirit were in full force, making it an unforgettable weekend.

Congratulations to every SBSC swimmer who competed and every volunteer who helped. Your hard work, dedication, and team spirit made this victory possible. What a fantastic achievement!

Go SBSC!
