Jewish Friendship Group news

Marilyn Anthony

Although many of our members have flown north to cooler climes, our activities continue apace and we hope to see our full time SaddleBrookians at all of our upcoming events.

The Jewish Friends Group celebrated its Mother’s Day Dinner at the Mesquite Grill on May 21. Everyone who attended loved the intimacy of the room and the excellent service. Most of the attendees said that the white fish, garlic chicken and ratatouille were the best food they had ever eaten in HOA 2. Amanda, the young female chef who does the cooking for the Mesquite Grill, did an outstanding job.

The room was set up beautifully with six at a table so conversation was easy and people did not want to leave! Faith and Dick Fromson contributed lovely centerpieces for all the tables, which brightened the room and made it welcoming as people entered. Everyone said that they would tell their friends who did not attend that they had missed a wonderful evening of fun and fellowship.

Next up is Father’s Day, so mark your calendars for June 18 at HOA 1’s Roadrunner Grill for a BBQ to celebrate Father’s Day. The cost will be $21 per person. Dinner will consist of marinated flank steak or BBQ chicken (sauce will be on the side), cole slaw, vegetarian baked beans, and an ice cream sundae bar or sorbet for dessert. It will be a wonderful way to honor all the fathers among us, so come on out.

Our recent coffee hosted by Kate Grinnell in May was delicious and a convivial farewell to JFG snowbirds and vacationers. Our thanks to Kate for hosting this lovely morning get together. Be sure to come out for our upcoming June coffee at Barbara Levinson’s home on June 19 at 10:00 a.m. at 64498 Sugar Lane; phone 825-6760 or email [email protected] to RSVP.

The Co-ed Book Club meeting in May was the last of the season and discussed Norwegian by Night by Derek Miller. The meeting at Sam Horowitz’s house was great fun. The club will be choosing next year’s books over the summer so please let Sandy Epstein know of your suggestions. A ballot will be sent out in July with the list and a synopsis of each book from which six will be chosen. Book group activities are over until October when we are discussing Rav Hisda’s Daughter by Maggie Anton. Enjoy your summer reading.

Our Happy Hours continue throughout the summer on July 17 and August 21 at a new location in the Preserve.
