Gail Kolenda, Education Chair
Many people look at art and say that they could never do that, create something. Did you know that most SaddleBrooke Fine Arts Guild artists didn’t start creating until they retired and came here? Some members took the famous “I can’t draw a stick figure class.” With time, instruction and interest, many have come to enjoy painting and creating. The SaddleBrooke Fine Arts Guild is offering a new opportunity for newcomers to have fun with art.
Monday afternoons members of the Guild stay and work on journal art following the morning Open Studio time for individual work. They enjoy sharing ideas and experimenting. Topics include design, color, illustration, compositions and more. The best thing about this time is it’s about learning and having fun. And it is great to experiment with different mediums, so one can learn what they like and don’t like. People who can’t make it to these classes can also consider taking collage online classes instead, so they can get their artistic fix.
As an extension of this opportunity to learn, a new, once-a-month Monday afternoon class on art journaling will highlight different mediums, so people can experiment with watercolor, acrylic and even mixed media. No judging right or wrong, no stress to create and to show, these classes are for learning and just having a fun time experimenting with art.
The first class will be Monday, October 28, 2018, from 1:00 pm to 4:00 p.m. in the Topaz Room. It does require a few supplies. Register through www.saddlebrookefinearts.org. Then plan on attending the regular open studio on Mondays, same time until the next class in November.
Check the Art Classes page at saddlebrookefinearts.org for the most up-to-date schedule and information about each class. There are also free open studio times available to guild members. Remember, with a membership fee of $20 annually, each class is $10 less.
For more information and registration go to the Art Classes page at http://www.saddlebrookefinearts.org.
Some classes include the supply fee and others may require the supply fee to be paid directly to the instructor.
All classes are held in the Topaz Room, SaddleBrooke TWO Arts and Crafts building.
