This is no foolin’—Doug Swartz won his sixth SMGA Club Championship title on April Fool’s Day, 2015. This ties the record for repeat victories in the SaddleBrooke Men’s Club Championship. The other six time winner is Ray Lohman who won six consecutive titles between 1996 and 2001. Doug has won in 2008, 2010 through 2012 and 2014 and 2015.

This year there were 88 players in the Club Championship divided into six flights. The Championship flight played gross scoring for the individual Club Championship title and the rest of the field played net scores for standings in their respective flights. The tournament consisted of three days of stroke play on March 25 and 28 and April 1. The Club Championship is awarded to the lowest three day gross score.

Doug led all three days with gross scores of 70, 76 and 80 for a three day total of 226, 10 strokes better than Terry Edwards and JR Salladay who tied for second at 236 total.

Flight winners were Jim Konon in Flight 1 with a total net score of 210; Virgil Maynard in Flight 2 with a total of 208; Jerry Back with 210 in Flight 3; Frank Demsky in Flight 4 with a net 201; Mike Haydin with a net 208 in Flight 5 and Bertil Sultan with a net 197 in Flight 6.

Congratulations to Doug Swartz and to all the individual flight winners.
