October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and Dr. Karen J. Hendershott of Arizona Oncology invites you to join a Webex meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 14, from 2 to 2:45 p.m. on “Breast Cancer in the Time of COVID-19.”

Dr. Hendershott is a breast cancer survivor herself and understands that every woman’s experience with breast cancer is unique. As a surgical oncologist, she brings impressive credentials as well as an understanding of the importance of shared decision making.

She completed a research fellowship at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center where she served as the chief academic fellow. Her medical doctorate is from the University of Minnesota Medical School.

As the medical director for the Breast Program at St. Mary’s Hospital in Tucson, she has over 10 years of experience in the surgical management of genetic, familial, and triple negative breast cancer. She also has a sub-specialty in techniques to maximize cosmetic outcomes and partial breast radiation therapy.

Her objective for the Webex presentation is to provide guidelines for the treatment of breast cancer during COVID-19 including screening, prevention, and treatment.
