Woodcarvers Club Needs Help!

Jay Rosenlof

The SaddleBrooke Woodcarvers Club could really use your help! As our name implies, we are a club that is focused on wood carving and wood projects that use hand carving tools and small power tools. Our club membership is experiencing a decline, and we would like to offer some additional activities to add some new members and enjoy some new hobbies.

We are seeking ideas and input for new club activities. Some of the ideas we have are as follows:

• Gourd decoration, including gourd design, carving, detail burning, and decoration. We would like to have an experienced gourd artist help with classes.

• Leather Work: Design, fabrication, and use of leather to make and decorate leather items such as belts, purses, holsters, and other ideas. Again, we would like an experienced leather crafter to offer classes.

• Wood Burning: Wood burning of scenes on wood planks and panels. There are many books of designs for templates, and it is a fun and challenging hobby. We are also looking for a person to offer and lead classes.

• Other Activities: We are open to other activities that would share our space and time in the Turquoise Room. We have tools available for most of these activities and plenty of space for different hobbies.

Let us know if you have interest in any of these activities or have ideas for other crafts.

Our email is [email protected] or call Jay at 503-305-0885.

Our time slots in the Turquoise Room are Mondays from noon to 4 p.m. and Tuesdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. So, come join us for wood carving or something else.
