The Wall That Heals is coming to Oro Valley

Pat Cox

The Wall That Heals is a scaled replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. and will be coming to Canada del Oro Riverfront Park in Oro Valley on March 15 through 18, 2018. It honors more than three million Americans who served in the Vietnam War and bears the names of more than 58,000 men and women who died defending our country. The exhibit includes a mobile Education Center and information tent. It is free to the public and will be open 24 hours a day.

A golf tournament will be held at El Conquistador Golf Course on February 24 to help cover the costs of bringing The Wall to Oro Valley. Additional events include a motorcycle escort on March 14 that precedes the semi-truck carrying The Wall to Riverfront Park where it will be unloaded and assembled; March 15 will be the opening ceremony with Honor Guard raising the flag in the mornings and playing Taps in the evenings; a special service will be held on the morning of March 18.

The Wall That Heals is being promoted and hosted by Bring The Wall, Inc., a nonprofit corporation made up of all volunteers. The Board for Bring the Wall is asking for your support by volunteering or making donations. If you are interested in supporting this powerful memorial, send an email to [email protected].
