April 12 was a windy, alternately sunny and cloudy day, but it did not deter Villas II residents. They were intent on written directions they were given by rally masters Jack and Glenna Sheerin. April is the month that Jack prepares new and diabolical instructions for the annual Villas II Golf Cart Rally. Experience in past rallies does not guarantee success as they are different each year. This year 13 golf carts traversed the streets of SaddleBrooke on their quest. We imagine there were an abundance of spare golf cart tires and wheels on the back of each cart to ensure no one would be left behind if an emergency mechanical failure occurred. Along the rally, drivers encountered checkpoints along the way, giving them confidence that they were on target. They were rewarded with candy as they stopped at each checkpoint, just in case they were hungry before they reached the Roadrunner Grill for the dinner planned for the conclusion of the rally.
Participants and other Villas residents enjoyed cocktails at the Roadrunner while the Sheerins and volunteers scored the event. Kathy and Bob Schoenwetter were the winners of the rally, and after their victory was announced pizza and salad were served buffet style. A total of 45 residents attended the dinner, and Jack and Glenna were applauded for their creativity and work in planning the event.
