How do we accommodate all who want to participate?
No easy answer!
How to deal with the super popularity of Trivia has been an ongoing question for all concerned for such a long time. We have discussed again and again how we can be fair and allow more people to participate in playing Trivia, but without harming our bottom line. Gratefully, The Vistas Dining Room is booked solid with dining reservations which is a tremendous contribution to Food & Beverage revenues.
Recent observation, however, in the Agave Lounge, front and back, has shown that we do not have enough room to accommodate everyone who wants to just play (i.e. no orders, no revenue) as well as those who want to order food while they play. Due to this overwhelming demand to play Trivia, HOA 1 management has decided to require a minimum $5 per person (before tax and gratuity) food and/or beverage purchase if you are sitting in the Agave Lounge (either part) playing. (The Vistas Dining Room players already order a meal). This change will be effective at the first Tuesday in January 2017.
A growing number of residents who want to play and have dinner have been shut out by those who are playing and do not order. This has sparked a legitimate issue among the residents questioning why paying customers are not able to attend and play because the tables are occupied by guests who are buying less than the minimum and thus not contributing to the revenue stream.
We recognize this decision will not be popular with some but at the same time it will be very popular with those who enjoy our always-entertaining Trivia hour and desire to have dinner and support the club.
