It is always a quiet time for the Sputters when the putting green closes for annual maintenance in preparation for the upcoming busy season. It was not quiet at all, however, for Mary Kopp and the Poker Run Committee! Even though there is no putting until mid-October, the monthly luncheon meeting, always scheduled for the first Monday of the month, is still held but preceded by a very special event. Last year there was a golf cart rally and this year the suspense doubled because not only was it a golf cart rally of sorts but at various locations throughout the rally area, each cart team had a chance to draw a card in an attempt to create the best poker hand. Fans of poker-themed entertainment and casino games in general may want to stay abreast with the latest slot news for some fun online casino sites to try out. If you can’t find the online casino games that you are looking for, you are bound to find another website that suits your needs, as there are countless websites out there for you to try. You may find that you are more suited to websites like dominoqq as they have the games that you like to play the most. Don’t be disheartened, there will always be something out there for you to try and more importantly, you can have fun in finding new games before the season starts.
Before getting into the specifics, we must recognize and thank Mary and her committee members: Elaine Ackerman, Sue Bartholme, Patsy Chase, Jan Deer, Donna Gruninger, Deborah Gryniewicz, Lee Kump, Cindy Rutkowski, Jean Shaffer and Barbara Turner. Thank you also to HOA1 Food & Beverage staff for serving an outstanding lunch in spite of the fact that club facilities had been closed for the week previous to the luncheon.
Prior to awarding dozens of raffle prizes, announcements of the winning poker hands were made. Best hand went to the team of Nancy Brackett and Hilda Clyde with a tie for second between the teams of Rosemary Topper and Laverne Tucker and Gail Crawford and Susanne Mosier. Scoring the highest number for the cart rally portion was the team of Joanne Fairweather and Ginny Porteous. Seventeen carts participated in the event with a prize for the best-decorated. Winning the best themed cart decoration was the team of Ann Pelton and Sharon Svoboda but Diana Carbone and Janine Wahlfeld had to be rewarded for their very original Las Vegas showgirl decorated cart. Thank you to all who participated and again, thanks to the hard-working committee.
Always a highlight of the season is the annual Lady Niners/Sputters tournament to be held this year on Tuesday, October 27. Marian Ramsey, Ilene Carter, Barbara Turner and Sherri Wyland are busy finalizing plans with their counterparts in the Niners. Next month’s Progress will have the details of this fun event.
On October 19 the winter start time of 9:30 a.m. began. Membership in the Verde Sputters is open to any resident of HOA 1, 2 and the Preserve not belonging to a sanctioned SaddleBrooke golf group.
