It was a graveyard smash

Dorothy Wood

They’re creepy and they’re kooky, mysterious and spooky, they’re all together ooky, the SaddleBrooke Line Dance Club! Okay, we’re not exactly the Addams Family but make no bones about it, we would have kept good company with them on October 25. Thirty-six creepy dancers haunted the Vermilion Room and swarmed the floor with witches, flappers, a freaky woman in black, a gypsy and a special appearance by Ricky and the Flash. DJ Dorothy, our referee, played spooky Halloween music and blew the whistle on any ghouls who got out of line. After an hour of dancing, it was time to sit for a spell and sip some brew—hot chocolate, fresh from the cauldron. During our coffin break, Lynne “Pocahontas” Kumza conducted a contest for the Best Costume. It was a tie between Pat Wells, our club clown, and Shirley Miller, a scary little skeleton creature straight from Hell’s Kitchen, wearing not much more than an apron! Their prizes—gift cards for Panera Bread.

If you’d like to try line dancing but haven’t taken that first step, don’t be a scaredy cat! Come and hang out with some ghoul friends at our weekly dance sessions. The best place to start is to drop in to our instructional Level 1 Workshop which is held on Tuesdays from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the SaddleBrooke Vermilion Ballroom.
