The Spanish Culture Club is open to SaddleBrooke residents who are interested in Spanish/Latin American culture and wish to learn more through discussion, events and culinary experiences. Knowledge of Spanish is not required, although there are opportunities for Spanish conversation for those who wish to improve their spoken Spanish.
A wine and cheese reception featuring wines of Latin America and Spain was held at the home of Don and Laurie Colen, to open the year of programs. Our first regular meeting will be Monday, October 15 at the SaddleBrooke One Activity Center at 5:30 p.m. A potluck buffet will precede a presentation by Sharon Cotter with photographs taken on her trip to Peru this summer. At this meeting members will vote on changes to the club’s by-laws to comply with HOA regulations on membership and to approve the change of the date of the annual meeting from November to January.
The November meeting will be held on Monday, November 12, a week earlier than our usual meeting date in order to avoid Thanksgiving week. Our normal meeting schedule, the third Monday of the month, will resume on January 21 with the annual meeting, election of officers and a presentation by Susan Kravitz.
Members meet on the first Monday of each month (October 1, November 5, etc.) for lunch and the opportunity for Spanish conversation. The group meets at the Mesquite Grill at noon. Please contact Audrey Tarchine at [email protected] no later than the Friday before so she can inform the restaurant of numbers.
On the fourth Monday of each month (October 29) there is a breakfast at the Roadrunner Grill at 8:30 a.m. Spoken Spanish is optional; socialization is the goal.
Please contact an officer of the club for further information about membership or any of these activities, Marian Brook, President 825-2792; Laurie Colen, Vice President 825-0083; Riley Jackson, Treasurer 818-6601 or Linda Miles, Secretary 306-9873.
