Sonoran Singers

Georgie Hourigan

Sonoran Singers have had a busy season. We have sung for Senior Village, Catalina Catholic Church, and a few assisted living places. We are a women’s choral group singing in three-part harmony: soprano, second soprano, and alto (sometimes second alto). We enjoy performing for our audiences and find much pleasure in our popular songs, some Broadway, and seasonal music.

Our director Cora Peters is an extremely accomplished musician and puts much of her time into arranging music for the group to make the best use of our talents and provide variety in the presentations.

For Catalina Catholic Church, she sang one or two solos with the chorus as backup singers. Her lovely soprano voice filled the chapel. Her husband Saul also sang “Hallelujah” with the chorus behind him as backup. Our Christmas line-up of songs was “Christmas Bells,” “Mister Santa,” “We Sing Noel,” “Silent Night, Holy Night,” “All Is Well,” and “Love Was Born.”

We rehearse weekly in the Sonoran Room at the MountainView Clubhouse every Wednesday afternoon from 3 to 5 p.m. Stop in to hear us and see if you might be interested in joining.
