Silversmith and Lapidary Club

It is amazing how varied our backgrounds and interests are here in SaddleBrooke. Teaming up with like folks offers opportunities we couldn’t discover alone.

Recently, several members of the Silversmithing and Lapidary Club took desert discovery rides in members’ jeeps to local areas of interest. We brought our finds to the work room and began refining them. The difference from hillside to jewelry is impressive. These items are being refined using many other techniques as well.

Samples were collected from legal sites for further refinement. This is a complex matter due to owned or claimed lands. More trips are in the planning stages. From gems to display samples, we enjoyed many.

This is only one example of the areas of interest of our club members. It isn’t all about shaping metals or stones into pieces of art, although those are very popular. Many of us are learning (or refreshing our knowledge) of geology and earth history and the world beneath our feet. Much evidence in studies proves that exercise of our brains and bodies will keep us viable long after sedentary ones whither.

Join us on Wednesday and Friday mornings in the Turquoise Room at Mountainview.

Classes are held based on demand, so go to our website at saddlebrookesilversmithlapidary.club to express your interest.
