Texture Techniques in Watercolor July 15, 1 to 4 p.m.

Instructor: Karen Brungardt

Available via Zoom and/or in classroom in person

Watercolor is the most versatile medium in which to paint, and that leaves room to use all kinds of things in your artwork to create different textures. We’ll use salt, rubbing alcohol, material, some common kitchen items, and other ways of creating textures in your watercolor piece. Sign up to learn interesting and fun ways of doing this. This class is for beginners and up.

Cost: $35 for guild members and $45 for non-members. You can buy supplies for the class for a surcharge of $10, which is payable to the instructor in class. A supply list will be emailed after registration.

Watercolor Weaving July 29, 1 to 4 p.m.

Instructor: Karen Brungardt

Available via Zoom and/or in person in classroom

Do you have old watercolor paintings too good to throw out but not good enough to frame? Or, want to take an old subject to paint and make it fresh again?

In this class, you’ll take old paintings that you don’t quite know what to do with and make them fresh and sparkle with new life in this class. Or, we will paint a new subject from scratch, and I’ll teach you how to weave paintings together for a new look, all while having a good time doing it.

Cost: $35 for guild members and $45 for non-member. There is a $10 fee for using instructor’s watercolor supplies.

A supply list sent upon registration.

Painting Around Aug. 12, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Instructor: Karen Brungardt

Available via Zoom and/or in person in classroom

In this class, we will use different masking techniques to preserve the white and light areas of the watercolor painting. To create a sense of depth, I’ll teach you to use the “painting around” technique in the artwork, along with how to remove the masking and handle those areas so they blend in and look natural. This kind of work is more detailed and slower to produce, so the class will be all day to give plenty of time to practice the techniques I will teach you. This class is best for advanced beginner/intermediate and up.

Cost: $75 for guild members and $85 for non-members. You can buy supplies for the class for a surcharge of $10, payable to theinstructor in class. A supply list will be emailed after registration.
