Dee Berisha
Probably the most popular and well-attended events offered by Women On Our Own (WOOO) are Saturday night dining events. Every Saturday of each month a different venue is chosen by the volunteer coordinator of that Saturday.
First Saturday (Happy Hour) is coordinated by Dee Berisha. Venues are chosen from the wide range of restaurants found throughout the Tucson area. Most attendees choose to carpool to First Saturday’s venues.
Second Saturday (Dine Around) is coordinated by Pat Rourke. Second Saturday is dedicated to venues close to or in SaddleBrooke itself. Some WOOO women can choose to drive themselves, drive their golf carts, or carpool.
Third Saturday Dining is coordinated by Susan Williams. This Dine Around also includes venues within the local area of Tucson, Catalina, Oro Valley, Marana, and Oracle. Carpooling is always available.
Fourth Saturday is dedicated to a themed potluck in a WOOO member’s home.
The hostess will choose a theme for the food to bring such as a salad potluck, breakfast for dinner, favorite county or state fair food, or maybe food reflecting a certain culture or country. Following the potluck, a topic of discussion has been chosen by the hostess. These conversations inevitably reflect the backgrounds of lives lived by our members, with fascinating insights into joys, sorrows, careers, regrets, and high points of the fascinating women who make up WOOO. Because of this time of sharing, friendships have been formed as women identify commonalities with each other. At times women find out they grew up just blocks from each other, went to the same college, or love to travel.
