SaddleBrooke Squares news

Our holiday season was filled with many fun events. The New Year promises even more to come! Many of our club dancers celebrated New Year’s Eve dancing with friends in Green Valley and some Allemanded left with their corner in Mesa. Best of all, when the Times Square New Year Eve’s ball dropped it was only 10:00 p.m. in Arizona.

Our regular plus dances continue on Thursdays at the MountainView Ballroom at 7:00 p.m.

Our energetic and enthusiastic new class meets on Sundays at 7:00 p.m. in the MountainView Fitness Center. Practice dances for the new class members are held on Tuesdays at 7:00 p.m. at the MountainView Fitness Center. The Tuesday practice dance is also for anyone wanting to get back to square dancing.

We had a great Christmas party on December 4 at the HOA 1 Activity Center. As usual, the potluck dinner was absolutely fantastic. We have some really great chefs in our square dance club. After dinner we danced off many of the calories we consumed. What made the evening even better was our new class members joined us for a club dance for the first time.

On December 10 many of our members met at the Olive Garden for dinner. After dinner we needed some exercise so we joined the Sundancers for a square dance at Vistoso. Good food, good friends and fun dancing. Life is good!

On Sunday, January 4 we headed to Mesa for their traditional welcome back dance.

There are many other events on our calendar. Current and former club members are looking forward to our 20th anniversary dinner dance at the MountainView Ballroom on January 29. This will be the highlight dance of the year for our club and will include a slide show, dinner, dancing and a few surprises. You won’t want to miss this one. A special invite goes out to all our former square dancers to join with us for this very special evening, if only for dinner and the chance to say hi to old friends. If interested, call Bonnie Kraber for the details.

The Tucson square dance festival is January 20 through 25 at the Radisson Suites Tucson. Then it is off to Yuma for their festival February 13 through 15. Sure wish square dance life wasn’t so boring.

In addition, the Sundancers are sponsoring special dances on Sunday, January 11 from 1:30 to 4:00 p.m. featuring Bobby Poyner and on Sunday, March 15 from 1:30 to 4:00 p.m. featuring Mike Sikorsky. The special dances are always well supported and enjoyed by our club.

Come and join the fun. Check out our calendar at www.saddlebrookesquares.com. We guarantee you’ll see why we have lots of fun and laughter. After all, laughter is good for the body and the soul.

See you across the square.
