SaddleBrooke Pet Rescue Network – August 2024

Maggie and Lil Guy

Happy Tail: ‘They’re Sweethearts’

Romayne Trudo

In November of 2021, longtime volunteers and supporters of SaddleBrooke Pet Rescue Network, Zenda and Vic Saraydarian, adopted an eight-month-old kitty from Oracle Animal Rescue & Rehabilitation (OARR). He is a stunning, all-black kitty with green eyes that they named Lil Guy. He has been the center of their universe for two and a half years. However, because of his playful nature and high energy, it seemed that Lil Guy would benefit from having a playmate. So, once again, Zenda and Vic contacted Julie at OARR. She was sure she had the perfect match for the mischievous Lil Guy, and her name was Maggie. Maggie is a tortoiseshell, approximately one year old, with a sweet disposition but very shy and timid. She and Lil Guy have become fast friends. They play together continuously and can be found cuddling on their cat tree when they are not playing. She was officially adopted on June 21, 2024, and is beginning to come out of her shell around people and knows that Lil Guy is her self-appointed protector.

Thank you, Zenda and Vic, for opening your hearts to another homeless kitty. May they bring you many years of joy and laughter.

Gretchen Dearborn and Rosie

Happy Tail: Rosie’s Long Journey

Romayne Trudo

In February, sweet Rosie, a 10-year-old dachshund, was rescued by Donna of Ruff Rescue when her person passed away suddenly, leaving Rosie and two siblings homeless. There was an immediate need for several long-term fosters. SaddleBrooke Pet Rescue Network (SBPRN) reached out to our many supporters for help, and we were thrilled when Barbara Plunkett, a resident of SaddleBrooke, offered to foster Rosie. Barbara fostered her for approximately two months and reported that Rosie was a sweet, gentle, affectionate girl who enjoyed daily walks and bonds quickly with people. Ruff Rescue continued to look for a more permanent home for this senior while she was being fostered. At the same time, a resident of Tucson, Gretchen Dearborn, was deciding that she was ready to adopt another dog after losing her Jack Russell terrier mix a year earlier. Through networking, SBPRN was able to put Gretchen in contact with Ruff Rescue. Everyone agreed that a foster-to-adopt trial would be the best way to handle this situation.

After several months, Gretchen decided that Rosie was the girl for her, and she officially adopted her on June 27, 2024. SBPRN and Ruff Rescue are so grateful to Barbara and Gretchen for opening their hearts and homes to this senior lady. She will live the rest of her life surrounded by love. As a follow-up, Rosie’s siblings also found loving forever homes.
