Some Good News—Your Donations at Work

Beth Conquest

Even though the pet food drive we had planned for the Pets in Need Action League (P.I.N.A.L.) was cancelled due to COVID-19, SaddleBrooke Pet Rescue Network still was able to contribute to this worthy organization. With the pet food donations we received from our April monthly pick-up, we were able to fill an SUV with dog and cat food. In addition, the network cancelled the Howl at the Moon Dog Walk, but many of the participants who had registered before the cancellation requested that we keep their registration fee. So, we also were able to donate $200 to help them buy more food. The network and P.I.N.A.L. deeply appreciate the generosity of our tremendous SaddleBrooke community.

P.I.N.A.L. is funded entirely by grants and donations and receives no municipal, county, or national funding. Last year alone, they distributed more than 8,500 pounds of pet food. Lynda Nesbitt, president of P.I.N.A.L., told us that they serve approximately 100 low income residents of Pinal County every month. All applicants are carefully screened for income qualification and she is anticipating a steady increase in requests for pet food as area residents deal with job and income losses. They also assist with low-cost spay and neuter options for qualified individuals. Their goal is to keep families and their pets together.
