SaddleBrooke Lady Niners master the monsoons

Barbara Johnson

As we all know, we’ve had quite an active monsoon season – complete with rain, wind, hail and sultry temps. But that hasn’t stopped the SaddleBrooke Lady Niners from still enjoying being out there on the course. Our Tournament Chair Charlotte James has kept our spirits high by providing some unique games on our league days and even though the monsoon was the winner on one of those days (we got rained out), we still have managed to have a good time and enjoy great camaraderie.

We’ve welcomed some new friends – Kathy Coffman, Kay Sharp and Mary Jo Swartzberg – and we look forward to several tournaments coming up this fall. Our first big event will be the LAGOS Tournament on September 15. For those who don’t know, LAGOS stands for Ladies Amalgamated Golf of SaddleBrooke. This is the event where we pair up with our sisters in the SBWGA -18 league to enjoy a morning of golf, followed by lunch and prizes. Judy Mattson and her committee have a fun day planned and we will also enjoy a walk down memory lane; stay tuned to the next issue!

Next up is the annual Sputters’ Tournament. We particularly love this one because our Sputters join us and do all the putting for us; doesn’t get much better than that! So as you can see, we’ll be welcoming back our summer traveling friends with some great events lined up. See you out there on the course!
