SaddleBrooke hikers search for wildflowers

The Picacho Peak Loop was hiked to view the traditional display of Mexican poppies, lupine and globemallow below Picacho Peak. The hike to the top of the peak was an adventure as shown in the accompanying photo. Hikers were Cheryl Werstler, Karen Cusano, Anne Stanley, Harry Good, Jeff Traft, Neil Christensen and Elisabeth Wheeler.

Fifty different wildflowers were spotted on the Sutherland Trail in Catalina State Park. Most spectacular were large displays of orange and yellow mariposa lilies, Mexican poppies, lupine, chicory, owl clover and scorpion weed against the background of the Santa Catalina Mountains. Hikers were Dee Zellinger, Rob and Susan Ronald, Marty and Dick Wilkes, Mark Schwartz, Jan Springer, Martha Hackworth, Miriam Solomon, Esther Goldberg, Tim Butler and Elisabeth Wheeler.
