The Mardi Gras spirit was alive and well during La Chandeleur Crepe Party on February 7 at the festively decorated home of Pat Smith. Fifty revelers donned masks, hats, boas and fun costumes to celebrate the occasion. Hundreds of mouthwatering crepes were filled with savory or sweet delicacies; the SaddleBrooke Francophiles outdid themselves this year with the incredible variety of beef, seafood, vegetable and to die for berry, cream and chocolate fillings. Ooh, la, la! Our special guests that evening were the winners of the raffle held at the Recreation and Activities Fair, Glenn and Terri Gage. Truly a fabulous evening!

On March 19 our annual Julia Child/Jacques Pepin Progressive Dinner will be held; this event honors our founders Bill and Suzanne Brown. Members will gather for hors d’oeuvres and wine at one home, break into smaller groups and travel to host homes, then reconvene for dessert and champagne to end the evening with a bang! All recipes for this dinner will be created from the cookbooks of these two famous French chefs. Pat Dawydowych chairs this lovely event.

Springtime Follies will be a joint venture with the Spanish Culture Club on April 19. Teams from each organization will battle each other in boules, the French version of bocce ball. After the winners are determined and prizes given, the players will share a potluck dinner at the HOA 1 Tennis Pavilion.

This activity will conclude the SaddleBrooke Francophiles 2014-2015 Season of Events. In August 2015, the Planning Committee will convene to plan for the 2015-2016 activities.

One ongoing activity, the Diners a la Maison chaired by Bob Kramer, will continue through May. This event pairs host couples who supply the entrée with other couples who bring hors d’oeuvres, a salad, vegetables and desserts. This intimate dinner is an excellent venue for members to forge new friendships.
