Beginning Watercolor, by Karen Brungardt. Thursdays, Feb. 27, March 6, March 13, March 20, and March 27 (five sessions) from 1 to 4 p.m. Love watercolors? Want to learn the basics of how to do it yourself? Or do you need to brush up on old skills? In this class you’ll learn the basics of watercolor painting from the paper up, learning about brushes, pigments, what paper to use, and more, so much more. Each week you’ll learn more about applying the brush in this exciting medium, and you’ll paint real paintings under the instructor’s guidance.

Norwegian Rosemaling Candle Holder, by Connie Kotke. Tuesday, Feb. 25, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Try this beautiful folk art by blending oil paints and applying them with small brushes to the top of a small wooden candle holder. This year we’ll try a new style called “Os” (pronounced oose). It features bright colors and fine details in a more geometric pattern than the Telemark style that was taught the past two years. The instructor will walk you through step by step, and you can add a bit of flair on your own.

Let’s Paint a Sunset, by Karen Brungardt. Saturday, March 1, from 9 a.m. to noon. Who doesn’t love the sunset skies we get here in SaddleBrooke and Tucson? How about painting one in watercolor? This class is for beginners and up. We’ll do some practice sunset skies and then paint a complete piece of artwork with a desert sunset as our subject. If you don’t have watercolor supplies, you can get them from the instructor for this class for an extra $10, payable in class.

Let’s Paint Flowers, by Karen Brungardt. Wednesday, March 5, from 9 a.m. to noon. Let’s paint some fast, fun flowers! You’ll learn a variety of ways to paint different kinds of flowers in this class. The class is for beginners and up. These techniques will be especially good for those who want to paint greeting cards using flowers. We’ll end with how to paint a rose. If you don’t have watercolor supplies, you may get them from the instructor for an extra $10 fee, payable in class.
