SaddleBrooke Fine Arts Guild (SBFAG) artists continue to shine inside and outside our SaddleBrooke community. Presently Mary Bubla, Gretchen Bierbaum, Renee Pearson, Robbie Summers, Wayne Ufford and Joanna Voisine are among SBFAG’s remarkable artists who are presenting exceptional creations in countless venues around town.

To begin, Wayne Ufford’s breathtaking one man watercolor exhibit, Paintings of the Southwest, ran from December 7, 2014, to January 18, 2015, at St Andrew’s Presbyterian Church near Tohono Chul Park in Tucson. Most of his watercolors focused on old buildings and landscapes that so beautifully reflect our Southwest heritage and surroundings.

Renee Pearson and Mary Bubla are among 32 local Southern Arizona Watercolor Guild artists who are displaying their artwork at the Fiesta Sonora West juried exhibition in the Baldwin Gallery at the renowned Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum. More than 40 pieces of art using a variety of watercolor techniques are on display. Among them, Renee Pearson’s exquisitely mastered cactus watercolor, Blossom Promenade, emanates the richness of our desert flora.

Additionally, Mary Bubla’s gorgeous Gerbera Daisies along with her other pieces, shows our desert’s splendor in rich, blended colors using the pouring technique with watercolor for which she is known. The Fiesta Sonora West exhibit, which began January 10, continues until April 3, so you will have plenty of time to experience this wonderful event along with the 98 acre Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum’s Zoo, Botanical Garden, other art galleries, the Natural History Museum and Aquarium.

In February, the SaddleBrooke Fine Arts Guild donated 100 coloring books created by several SBFAG artists and 100 boxes of crayons to Kids’ Closet to be given to preschool aged and early elementary school aged children. Joanna Voisine spearheaded this enormous effort to bring the arts to young children who might not have the chance to be exposed to art. (Kids’ Closet is a SaddleBrooke supported outreach program focused on making a positive impact on the lives of needy children in our neighboring communities.)

From March 29 until May 12 Gretchen Bierbaum will be exhibiting her masterfully created collage in the National Collage Society Juried Postcard Show at the Tucson Jewish Community Center (JCC) Fine Art Gallery, located at 3800 E. River Road. On Sunday, March 29 the JCC will hold a reception from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. All SaddleBrooke residents are invited.

Finally, the Southern Arizona Watercolor Guild recently chose a Mary Bubla and a Robbie Summers painting to be featured in their 2016 Tucson Community Calendar. This is Mary’s second year to be selected as a featured artist

Congratulations to all our outstanding SBFAG artists who are making significant art and humanitarian contributions in our Tucson communities.
