On January 23, 2016, the SaddleBrooke Chili Blind Draw Partners 8-Ball Tournament was held in the SaddleBrooke Starter Shack. The Tournament Directors were Dominic Borland and Joe Giammarino. After a blind draw, the 16 players were grouped as follows: Fred “The Baker” Dianda and Ron “Q” Quarantino, Jim “Shooter” Fabio and Richard “Loose Rack” Galant, Gary Rowell and Mike Collins, Richard “Villa Park” Werkmeister and Don “Deadeye” Cox, Dan Stebbins and Jim Kauffman, Tom “Half Jacket” Barrett and Joe “Fast Eddie” Giammarino, Dominic “The Doctor” Borland and Terrence Sterling and Al “Big Al” Petito and Les Brown.

Dominic Borland and Terrence Sterling’s road to the Championship started by losing to Tom Barrett and Joe Giammarino in the first round, which sent them to the loser’s bracket where they had a long road ahead. Their first opponent in the loser’s bracket was Don Cox and Richard Werkmeister who they quickly defeated. Next up were Gary Rowell and Mike Collins; Dominic and Terrence sent them packing. Jim Kauffman and Dan Stebbins were no match either for Dominic and Terrence. Jim Fabio and Richard Galant were next to try their pool skills against Dominic and Terrence, but they also lost. Dominic and Terrence have come all the way through the loser’s bracket to match up against Tom Barrett and Joe Giammarino again. Dominic and Terrence would have to beat them twice to become the Champs. The first match went to the final game but Dominic and Terrence were up to the challenge and beat their opponents. This set up a final match for the championship. Joe and Tom were just not up to it this time. Dominic and Terrence were just too strong all day! A fun day was over after three hours of partners 8-Ball. The 16 participants consumed 15 pounds of chili and a whole lot of cornbread. That is a good day!
