A big thank you goes out to all those who participated and competed. The day started with a players meeting held at 12:45 p.m. to explain the tournament format and rules. The tourney was a two out of three double elimination format. Play commenced on two tables at 1:00 p.m.
Results:
1st: Dave Brinker and Joe “Fast Eddie” Giammarino
2nd: Vance MacLeod and Dominic “The Doctor” Borland
Recap:
Dave Brinker and Joe “Fast Eddie” Giammarino’s road to the championship started by beating Jim “Aviator” Wydick and Dan Stebbins, then they sent Jim Kaufman and Mike Collins to the loser’s bracket; next up was Vance MacLeod and Dominic “The Doctor” Borland and down they went. This match put Joe and Dave on the hill waiting for the loser’s bracket winner. Vance and Dominic emerged from the loser’s bracket to attempt to defeat Joe and Dave twice to win the tournament. Dave and Joe had a different outcome in mind and they outlasted Vance and Dominic with Dave shooting a table length cut on the final 8-ball for the win in their first match to take the championship. Congratulations to Dave Brinker and Joe “Fast Eddie” Giammarino for their steady play during the tournament.
A fun day was over after 2.5 hours and approximately 25 games of 8-Ball. 10 pool players had competed and met new friends that shared their passion. That is a good day!
We are always looking forward and planning other events; watch for details in your community’s publications and your emails. Know any pool players? Have them contact Joe Giammarino [email protected] or Dominic Borland [email protected] and we’ll add them to our list.
