Paul Frederickson (right) and his partner, Bob Hills of SaddleBrooke Ranch, won the gold medal in men’s doubles (50 plus) in the 3.0 skill level at the Tucson Senior Olympics. They also won a silver medal in the same category at the Happy Trails Tournament in Surprise, Arizona, held in January.

Tournament season for Pickleballers has started and SaddleBrooke Pickleball Association members are winning medals in the early events.
In January, the Tucson Senior Olympics was held at the Tucson Tennis and Racquet Club. Joan Van Matre and Diana Giljohann won a silver medal in the 4.5 skill level of the Women’s Doubles (50 plus) division.
Brent Carlson and Bob Ward won a silver medal in the 4.0 level for Men’s Doubles (50 plus); Bob Shelton and his partner won a gold medal in the (70 plus) 3.5 level; and Paul Frederickson and his partner won a gold medal in the (50 plus) 3.0 level.

In the Happy Trails Tournament held in Surprise, Arizona, in January, Paul Frederickson and his partner won a gold medal in the (50 plus) 3.0 skill level.
The fourth annual Mission Royale Pickleball Tournament was held in late January and early February in Casa Grande, Arizona, and Mark Van Matre and Bob Koerner won the silver medal in the Men’s Doubles – 4.5 skill level.
Diana Giljohann and her partner won a silver medal in the Women’s Doubles – 4.5 skill level at Mission Royale.
