Norman Schickedanz
OTR (old time radio) fans will meet Tuesday, July 1 at 1:30 p.m. in SaddleBrooke. They will listen to the complete recording, lasting about one hour, of the Hindenburg airship disaster on May 6, 1937, including introductory comments made years later by broadcaster Herb Morrison.
Club members come from SaddleBrooke, Oro Valley and Tucson. They listen to OTR shows and share interests, experiences and enjoyment in radio programs from the 1930s to 1950s. In recent months, members have listened to The National Barn Dance from 1942, the Bergen and McCarthy Show with Mae West from 1937, the Screen Guild Theater’s The Maltese Falcon with Humphrey Bogart in 1943 and The Kraft Music Hall starring Bing Crosby from 1945.
Meetings take place the first Tuesday of the month in a home. If you are interested in attending, call Norm Schickedanz at 818-7817 for more information and directions.
