Meet Jack and Jill Fritz, Swimmers Extraordinaire!

Jack and Jill Fritz

Lyn Moreno

On a beautiful, sunny March day in 1963 at Stevens Pass ski slope in Washington, Jack slipped in line of the double chair lift beside a beautiful, young blond. They were seated together and swooped up to the top of the mountain. Eight months after that chance meeting, they were married. Yes, Jack and Jill began their life together with a trip “up the hill.” These two have been married for 63 years. For their first date, they went swimming and then out for a beer. Jack, now 92, forgot his wallet, which meant Jill, now 84, had to pay.

In 2000 the couple bought their winter home in SaddleBrooke. The two have spent the past 22 years representing the SaddleBrooke Swim Club in Arizona. Recently, the two swam in the United States Masters National Swimming Championship, a four-day meet held in Federal Way, Wash., Aug. 6-10, 2025. This meet brings together the best of the best national swimmers. Combined, the two swam 11 events, earning five gold, four silver, and two bronze medals. Our SaddleBrooke Swim Club is very proud of their accomplishments.
