The MountainView-Preserve Men’s Golf Association competed in the first match of the 2014/15 Pima Cup at La Paloma on Tuesday, December 2. The Pima Cup is a friendly competition where six players from each of eight different local golf clubs play a series of matches against each other at their respective home courses which have been scheduled through June of 2015. The teams are comprised of two A players with handicaps from 0 to 8.9, two B players with handicaps from 9 to 17.9 and two C players with handicaps from 18 to 28.0.

The M-PMGA players for this first completion were Doug Johnson, Peter Backer, Ron Kerr, Leo Croteau, Jack Hammer and John Bidegan. The M-PMGA team came in second place only two points behind the home team from La Paloma. SaddleBrooke 2 was led by Doug Johnson and Peter Backer who won the A flight.

Future matches will be held throughout the next 12 months at the participating clubs. Besides La Paloma and SaddleBrooke 2, the other clubs are Oro Valley, The Gallery, SaddleBrooke 1, El Conquistador, Ventana Canyon and SaddleBrooke Ranch.

Any M-PMGA member that wishes to play in the Pima Cup events can sign up on the club website. Players for each match will be selected at random with the goal of having a different team for each event. The cost is $70 for each tournament which includes green fees, cart, range balls, meal and prize fund. Check the website for dates and venues.
