On Thursday, December 18 three teams representing the M-PMGA headed to the Oro Valley Golf Club to do battle with SaddleBrooke Ranch in Pima Cup competition. Bruce Fink and Jon Michels joined together to form our A team. Richard Hicks and Ron Victor made up team B and Bob Brussel and John Bidegain rounded out the group as team C. All parties were on deck for the 8:30 a.m. start but Mother Nature had other plans for the day. Several holes were completed but rain, rain and more rain finally caused play to be suspended. Many hoped that the decision would be to reschedule the event; however, that was not the case and the match was awarded to the SaddleBrooke Ranch team—the leaders when the suspension occurred. Our thanks go out to our members who braved the elements. Good job.
The New Year had just begun and the M-PMGA was making plans for another Pima Cup event and The Gallery Golf Club was host. Our competition for the event was the team representing The Gallery. Again Jon Michels was part of our A team but this time he was paired with Tom Fitzgerald. Team B had Tony Blunt and David Cohen as partners and John Bidegain and Phillip Serlin completed our group as team C. Mother Nature was no factor this day possibly because of the 12:30 p.m. start and our team earned a tie with the home team scoring a total of 27 points. At this point in the season the M-PMGA is in fourth place overall. Great work! By the way, the next tournament is scheduled for March 2 at the SaddleBrooke HOA 1 Golf Course and our opponent will be the team from the Oro Valley Golf Club.
