Thirty members of the SaddleBrooke Line Dance Club made their way to a fun-filled afternoon in the Vermilion Room. Our theme for the day was a Hawaiian Luau. And they came wearing flowered shirts, hula skirts, muumuus and sarongs. During our regular dance session we did more than line dance. Several members of the Nani Loa Kupuna Hula Halau performed for us and also taught a simple Hula. Hips were moving in all directions as we tried our best to learn the Hukilau. After more dancing we tried our luck with the hula hoop. Again, our hips were flying as some of our dancers tried to keep that silly round circle around our hips and not on the floor. Congrats to Jeanne Fernandez, the winner with the most experienced hips. The prize was a box of delicious chocolate covered macadamia nuts. Many thanks to the many residents of SaddleBrooke that loaned us hula hoops for our contest. We then were treated to a full five course Hawaiian dinner prepared by our culinary experts at Charli Jackson’s home.
Come join our club to dance, socialize and maybe even lose a few of those nasty unwanted pounds. A good place to start is at our level one workshop on Tuesdays from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at HOA 1 in the Vermilion Room. Times and places may vary, so please check out our website at sbldc.weebly.com and click on Calendar for the latest updates.
