It was a lazy, hazy, crazy day this summer! What better way to keep your cool and beat the sizzling heat on a very hot June afternoon? An Ice Cream Social, of course. Our party was held at the charming home of our club President Kathy Ames. A baker’s dozen plus one (for good measure) members of the SaddleBrooke Line Dance Club were chill’n, eating ice cream. We always eat the no calorie flavors: vanilla, strawberry, chocolate truffle and rocky road. What would a sundae be without all the yummy toppings: caramel, hot fudge, bananas, fresh fruit, nuts and of course, to top it all off with whipped cream and a cherry.

There was no soda, pretzels or beer, no bikinis or wienies, but before we indulged in dessert, we enjoyed fresh baked ham and turkey sandwiches made on homemade bread (baker wishes to remain anonymous), fruit salad and pasta salad made by Kathy Ames. Our Treasurer Terri Gage put together a great goat cheese appetizer and veggie tray. Lynne Kumza, our social chairperson, takes full responsibility for all the calories consumed.

We had plenty of time to catch up on all the latest gossip. Oooops! We don’t gossip, just catch up on all the latest scoop. Everyone enjoyed themselves, sharing recipes, laughing, eating and relaxing. For information on having fun and line dancing, check out our website at sbldc.weebly.com or call Terri Gage at 262-8304.
