Line Dance lessons with Rebecca can be fun for you

With Barb and Cindy pulling our sleigh-we had a “happy feet” celebration to end our Thursday practices for the year with lots of Line Dances. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all. P.S. Barb returned her borrowed antlers to her dog after the festivities.

Why line dance after the fun of seasonal celebrations fade? The lessons provided in SaddleBrooke promote the maintenance and improvement of your mental and physical health. How can an activity do this?

Just to review a few ways: (1) Memory and Learning: Choreographed movements require some memorization, concentration, reading skills. Learning new skills and activities is a proven booster of functional brain capacity. (2) Balance/coordination: Over 80 different movement skills may be learned in classes improving balance and coordination – leading the prevention of many falls at home. Turning skills provide inner ear training and desensitization for increased control of balance. (3) Exercise: With a fun activity providing mild to moderate cardio work out, you are likely to continue intead of getting bored and quitting. (4) Upright movement strengthens bones with side motions (spine and legs) beyond simple walking. (5) Socialization: Line dance gets you out of the house to meet new friends. (6) Music: Music therapy has proven helpful in the maintenance and recovery of brain function. (7) All of the above also attack the issues of depression, fatigue and isolation we can experience with aging.

Two different skill/fitness levels classes accomodate most everyone. Rebecca’s teaching focuses on fun, self-improvement and lowering stress. Students progress to a new level at their own pace or they may stay at a favorite skill level forever. Level 1/Beginners classes are Monday and Thursday. Level 2/Improver classes are on Monday, Tuesday. Upper skill/fitness dancing for Level 2 occurs on Thursday. Both winter 2019 classes are already on a wait list for new dancers. Why? Because class size must be limited and fitted to room size to ensure quality With limited spaces you must pre-register with Rebecca to attend. So write to [email protected] immediately if you want an opportunity to dance before April. Prepare to laugh, move, and expand your brain and physical capacity.

Want variety in your dancing? Our most frequently used website for dance listings has a catalog of over 102 thousand different dances as of 11/25/2018. Rebecca has taught in excess of 250 different dances. Each 9-11 week series includes about 10-12 (some review-some brand new) dances for each skill level. So I guess you can say there is some popularity to the dance/sport of line dance. It is a worldwide phenomenon among seniors and youngsters alike. Worldwide? No kidding, I found a couple of line dance videos from Antartica. Note: Rebecca’s students currently range from their late 40s into energetic 80s.
