Ann Vernon
No doubt most readers remember the familiar Beach Boys tunes such as Surfin USA, Fun, Fun, Fun, Barbara Ann, Good Vibrations and the list goes on! Those in attendance at the Beach Boys Blowout, a Treats and Talents fixed-price event, rocked on to these tunes and many more. Music was provided by Gus D’Oldie and Miss Gina, DJs who donated their talent to this event that everyone agreed was lots of fun! Guests came in a variety of beach attire ranging from bathing suits that you can find on sites like Hermoza, and cover-ups to tee shirts, shorts, and flip flops. In addition to dancing, they ate sloppy Joes and other typical foods of the era and played beach ball toss and trivia. The lucky winners received Hostess cupcakes and Twinkies, a taste from the past!
This event is just one of the many fixed-price events offered by the SaddleBrooke Treats and Talents Auction. In order to attend one of these functions, you must come to the auction, sign up and pay the amount charged for the event! It’s as simple as that. The 2013 auction was a huge success generating over $38,000 that is donated to worthy charities such as SaddleBrooke Community Outreach, Impact (formerly CCS), Youth on Their Own, SaddleBrooke Coalition Against Domestic Violence and others. Be watching the papers for the date announcing the 2015 auction which will be held in March or early April. This auction is a SaddleBrooke event and we welcome participation and donations from anyone in this community.
