The Knit-Wits held their fifth annual baby shower in collaboration with SaddleBrooke Tucson Troop Support. Barb Carter spoke to our members to explain how many baby baskets are prepared for needy military families. Knit-Wits members knit or crochet baby blankets, sweaters, hats and booties for donation into the baskets. In addition, many members contribute other helpful items for mom and baby including things such as bibs, baby wipes, lotions, books, toys and onesies. The “surrogate grandparents of SaddleBrooke” embrace the military families needing assistance. All are stationed in and around Tucson, including places like Davis-Monthan and Fort Huachuca. Big thanks to Joan Hansen from the Knit-Wits on her many years of coordinating this effort. And thanks to all our members for the tremendous outpouring of support for this cause.

The Knit-Wits meet every Wednesday morning from 9:00 to 11:30 a.m. Dues of $12 per year can be collected anytime. What a bargain for all the friendship, knowledge and happiness shared in our group! Come by to check us out; you can find us at HOA 1 Arts and Crafts Center, Room 4.
