We are so fortunate to live here in SaddleBrooke where there is a plethora of activities to pique everyone’s interest. If you don’t see an activity or group that meets your needs, you can always introduce a new idea to the mix! As I read the community newspapers and flyers each month, I can’t help but be amazed at the variety of clubs and organizations in SaddleBrooke. Included in these are a number of vocal groups within the community, each adding their own personal flare in providing entertainment for everyone. To sit in the audience at DesertView Theater, MountainView Ballroom, SaddleBrooke One’s dining room or other local venues and witness the talented musicians we have right here in SaddleBrooke is always a pleasure. Perhaps you have watched these performances and thought to yourself, “I love music and sure would like to be a part of the show.” Some people wonder how they can get involved and what it takes to put on these programs. Well, let me tell you about one such group, the SaddleBrooke Singers!
The SaddleBrooke Singers Organization is comprised of SaddleBrooke residents and has been presenting programs to the community for more than 25 years. During the season, we meet on Sunday afternoons at 3:00 p.m. and rehearse until 5:00 p.m. Our next show will be in early December, and I can’t wait to see what music we will be preparing for the concert. The rehearsals kick off in early September with a wonderful Welcome Back Dinner that is always a huge hit with the membership. It’s a great way to meet the new singers and reconnect with returnees from seasons past. Each year we have been fortunate to add new voices to our group, and I am always amazed by the variety of musical backgrounds and years of membership in the SaddleBrooke Singers. The group includes some of us who have been members for only a few years, but there are also many who have participated for at least 15 years. We even have several singers who have been involved in the club for at least 20 years!
The Singers have been very fortunate indeed to have had wonderful directors over the years. We have learned so much from each one and continue to do so with our fabulous Director, Tanya Elias-Graf. And we are so fortunate to enjoy weekly musical accompaniment by our great pianist, Janie Grinstead. One of our members put it perfectly when she said, “belonging to the Singers is like being part of a large family who is always there to help each other out.” So, don’t forget that if you like to sing, you can join the fun this fall!
