Jewish Friendship Group of SaddleBrooke—What a Month!

Marsha B. Mantykow

We started the year with a number of very successful and enjoyable events. The Jan. 15 concert at The Gaslight Music Hall was so much fun. Twenty-five members ventured off the mountain to attend this nostalgic evening. The two lead singers, backed by a seven-piece band, did not disappoint. They covered all the great groups of our youth. I chose the calorie-free pizza, munched on free popcorn, and, along with everyone else, danced in my seat.

A Ladies Coffee was held on Jan. 28. It’s been a while, but thank you to Barb Lawton and Eileen Zelmanow for hosting this get-together. I don’t think we realize how important these gatherings are until we haven’t had one for a while. They keep us connected.

The Jan. 29 Men’s Dinner at SaddleBrooke One’s Vistas relaunched these monthly get-togethers. Hosted by Jeffrey Luftig and co-hosted by Jeffrey Zelmanow, more than 15 men of the Jewish Friendship Group (JFG) dined with the goal of sharing ideas for future topics of discussion. Additionally, as head of programming, Jeff Luftig asked attendees to offer suggestions for future group activities. Between riveting topics of discussion, sharing of ideas for JFG events, friendship, and good food, these dinners will be a “must attend” for the men of the JFG.

This was our first time being part of the Recreation and Activity Fair, which was held on Feb. 7 in the ballroom at MountainView. Thank you to everyone who stopped by and told your neighbors to check us out.

The Feb. 14 Valentine’s Day cocktail party will be held at the home of Hara Lipman and George Delzell. This potluck evening of wine and hors d’oeuvres also serves as an open house for anyone interested in joining the JFG. These informal evenings are always great fun.
