Jewish Friendship Group of SaddleBrooke

Marsha Mantykow

It’s hard to believe another year has passed and it’s 2026! On behalf of the Jewish Friendship Group board, we wish you all a happy and healthy new year. Personally, I think we are all winning at life just by living in this wonderful community.

Anyone who reads my articles regularly knows that they are lighthearted yet provide information on what is happening in SaddleBrooke’s Jewish community. The success of our annual Hanukkah party is something I’m excited to write about. But I’d be disingenuous if I ignored the concern and sadness that was also present. One day before our celebration, on the first night of Hannukah, the horrific murders in Bondi Beach in Australia took place, reminding us all of the rampant rise of antisemitism throughout the world. But darkness will never overtake light. So, more than 90 members lit the second candle on our menorahs and filled the Vistas at SaddleBrooke One with conversation, laughter, and joy. The band’s music and singing was the perfect accompaniment for dancing. Most importantly, Courtney’s Courage was the beneficiary of the generosity of our members. The room was filled with toys and gifts to brighten the holidays for children with cancer throughout Tucson. Thanks to everyone who participated.

Jan. 15, Gaslight Music Hall. “Bring Back That Lovin’ Feeling,” a tribute to the Righteous Brothers. In full disclosure, I am writing this on Dec. 20. Because I attended the Beatle Brothers concert, I think it’s safe to assume this was as much fun. Check back next month for the full report on the evening’s success. A big thank you to Jeff Luftig who has enthusiastically taken on the responsibility of planning these events.

Saturday, Feb. 7, Recreation and Activity Fair in the ballroom at the MountainView. If you’re not a member, please stop by between 8 and 11 a.m. to find out about our group. If you are a member, bring a friend and stop by to say hello.

Feb. 14, Valentine’s Day wine and hors d’oeuvre cocktail party to be held at the home of Hara Lipman and George Delzell. This informal potluck can kickstart any romantic plans you have for later in the evening. Watch for an email with final details.

Sunday, March 8, at SaddleBrooke One. Now that the holidays are over, we’re working with the HOA to finalize our plans. We do have a number of cash cards as prizes for our bingo games. It will be another fun evening of food, friendship, and a little friendly competition. Watch for emails with all the details as we get closer to the date.

April 2, Second Night Passover Seder. There will be many emails forthcoming.

As a strictly social club, we are not affiliated with any religious organization. We welcome all our neighbors to join us.
